Here is our new Marian Garden. It was difficult to procure a suitable statue. This one came via a donor who wishes to remain anonymous. I am very grateful. We situated her in the West yard facing East as she stands as the face of humanity, facing East in joyful anticipation of the second coming our her Son, Jesus Christ, Who will come to judge the living and the dead, Amen.
The story of this is unique. When an immigrant from Italy came over in the early 1920s, he brought this statue mold with him. He became a parishioner at Holy Ghost here in Happy Hollow and made Marian statues for fellow congregants. When he passed away, the mold was given to the donors who continue the tradition. After nearly 100 years, there is a new statue of Our Lady just blocks from Holy Ghost still here in the 'holler made from that original mold.
The kids love it. Wyatt likes having a choice of praying the rosary before the family alter or outside. I just like being able to pray with them without feeling as though I may as well be tending hyperactive monkeys holding rosaries.
